Glimpse of Goodbye

Street lights glowing, cars passing, strangers walking,
I stood there alone, in silence, the cold wind mocking.
Last night you said, “Meet me at our place, nine-thirty sharp.”
So I waited, with hope stitched to my fragile heart.

Hours slipped by—still, no sign of you.
I called, I texted—no answer, no clue.
As darkness crept in and stole the day,
I saw two lovers near—your hand in hers, not far away.

You hugged her gently, kissed her lips with ease,
While pain surged through me like a violent breeze.
Only the three of us stood in that space,
And I realized I was watching love erase.

With the last of my strength, I walked past your smile,
My heart shattering more with every mile.
I ran—I ran without looking back,
Until everything faded into silent black.

Now I lie beneath the harsh highway light,
Body broken, soul surrendering to night.
I tried to open my eyes—just a final glance,
But all I saw was you both walking away from our last chance.

Why did it have to end this way?
Why didn’t you care about the words I’d never say?
Did it really take betrayal to set you free?
Was hurting me part of your love story?

Now I’m gone—just a shadow of the girl I used to be,
Is this what you truly wanted—life without me?
I’ll never understand why I had to die,
While you and my best friend continued your lie.

Since I no longer have the chance to speak my truth,
Know this—my love was real, pure, and uncouth.
Cherish the one you’ve chosen, if she makes you whole—
Just know she broke more than a heart—she stole a soul.
