As I continue to know more about the country that I’d been living for five years, coming in this destination gave me the opportunity to know more about their story.

Katara Cultural Village is one of the best travel destinations here in Qatar. This project hope for human interaction through art and cultural exchange. Together with the workshops and activities that’s happening here, it aims to strengthen the exposure of the past practices that has been part of Qatari Culture.

This place is the largest and most intricate cultural project of Qatar. Not only it shows the Qatari Culture, but visitors can come here to experience different cultures around the world. From theater plays, musical and exhibition galleries, this will be a one stop destination for any cultural activity that anyone can discover.

NOTE: If you planned to take your professional cameras, you can simply request for an access in their website so that you can have your photoshoots. This request is upon their approval so it’s important to do it in advance.

Like what I stated above, this place is a one stop destination. From Beach, art galleries, mosque, amphitheater, gardens and one of a kind architectural facility, wherever you go will be a best place to take pictures. You can also check their events schedule in their website so you can have a chance to join (pre-registration is a must).


KATARA BEACH

A lot of beach activities are taken place here. They offered kayaking, boat ride, and many more other activities (the cost varies on the activities.)


AMPHITHEATER

The Katara Amphitheater is one of the iconic spots here in this place that all Greek architectural lovers should visit. It’s a multipurpose hall where world class cultural events happen. Even without events, you can simply visit the place to take pictures. It is situated in a place where you can also see the beach side.


KATARA HILLS

Not only their spectacular architecture, you can also expect a very great place to unwind and relax while viewing the whole Katara Cultural Village. In this place, they made a man made river that can be a great spot for pictures. Benches are found everywhere and picnic are allowed here so during weekend you can see a lot of families dining here while enjoying the fresh air.


THE MASJID OF KATARA

One of the eye-catching infrastructures here is the Katara Masjid. With the intricate design of turquoise and purple mosaic, you can feel a touch of Turkish style. In their website, all of its architectural design is inspired of famous mosques in various middle eastern countries.


THE GOLDEN MASJID

This is another Masjid that you can also find here in Katara Cultural Village. Despite of this place being large, you can simply find this due to it’s golden style exterior that literally shines under the sun. Based on their website, this place represents Ottoman style. Katara also organizes different courses in Quran memorization from different age groups.

NOTE: Before visiting this place, just kindly take note their opening hours for weekdays and weekend.

Green Ehteraz is mandatory upon entering enclosed place.


Do you prefer high end restaurants or just a simple stall can do? Name it and they have it! From tea’s and coffee, up to fruit juices and mixed drinks, you can have it all here. Once you visit this place, you can just check first their opening hours so you can ensure that all shops are open.

If you’re tired from your sightseeing and you just tried the food around the areas, you can simply check some stores in Galeries Lafayette. From perfumes, clothes, jewelries and cosmetics, name it and they have it. Since most of the brands situated here are high end, one note that I can tell you is to have your extra cash upon going here.

In front of Galleries Lafayette, there’s a lot of cafe’s and stalls that you can also try. Their opening hours are usually around 2:00- 3:00 in the afternoon but if ever you went there earlier, you can just first have your sightseeing around the place.

SOUVENIR SHOPS

Tourist who plans to go in this place will never be frustrated because gift shops are also available here. From books up to souvenir items like shirts, you can easily find it along the Katara Amphitheater.


If your day is not yet enough to tour around this majestic place, you can simply check in in one of the hotels near this area. You can check try St. Regis Hotel which is 1 km away only in this place or Intercontinental Doha Hotel which is around 1.3 km away. Neither of the two option, you can rest assured that their service will be high end knowing that they’re one of five star hotels here in Qatar. You can first check their availability upon planning your day!


Transportation will not be any of your concerns here in this place. You have tons of options to visit this place like taking metro (their newly built train station), Karwa taxi, Bus and many more modes of transportation.

Upon visiting this place, getting tired will not be your problem since they’re offering free golf cart ride wherever you plan to go within Katara. Isn’t it amazing?

If you prefer to use Metro, you can just stop at Katara station via Red Lane and you’ll just spend 2 rials!
