A unique place that is home for different world leading education institutes, region’s largest library, technology parks, cultural sites and many more. It’s a one stop destination that deserves a place in your itinerary if ever you visit Qatar.
This place is situated in Al Rayyan, launched by Qatar Foundation last 1997 and inaugurated on the year 2003.
Since I decided to discover new places that I never been here in Qatar, I started searching for different iconic destination within the area. Last March, I saw an Instagram post that was taken in Education City Ceremonial court, there I started to look for more details about that place. By searching this place, I found out that there’s a lot of great spots in this area not only the one that I saw in Instagram. Since most of my travel, I am with my cousin, I invited her to visit Education city. This place is very ideal because it’s quite near also from her accommodation. Without hesitation, she agreed and we set the date right away.
(If you plan to visit this place, the best month you can go here is between November to February.)
Before the set date, I prepared a list of spots within the area that we need to visit. This is for us not to miss anything once we are there. I also downloaded sample pose so that we can ensure that are photos will look great! Funny right? I remember how we felt both excited just talking about our pose and aesthetic videos that we see online. For us, this is our private time to show off be the best version of ourselves even only in our pictures.
Here below are the list of spots that I made to give you an idea about it if ever you want to visit the place:

Upon visiting this place, we were able to enjoy every minute of it. Our days was full of laughter’s and stories about our life. We even talked about how we were 10 years before and found ourselves now in another country working with our own goals. Amazing right? Who would’ve imagined that both of us will be working in the same country? Growing up, we usually meet each other only during our vacation. Since both of us are studying on our own respective cities, it is very rare for us to meet every now and then. Despite of that, our closeness didn’t change as we grow up. Years passed by and we became adults, found jobs as soon as we graduate and after five years, she was able to make it here in Qatar. As I look forward in these coming years, I know that there’s more adventures we’re about to unfold. I’m pretty sure that we will enjoy every single moment together and at the same time discover new places that will help us grow.

In my almost six years staying here in Qatar, I keep asking myself how I failed to visit this place before. As soon as we arrived there, I can feel the excitement grows in me and I badly wanted to tour around as soon as we get there. The place is splendid! There’s a lot of spots to checked on and the people staying there just shown how good that place to unwind and relax. There’s a lot of families enjoying their picnic and gatherings. Some of them are celebrating one’s birthday while some are having a get together with their friends. I’d seen a lot of locals and foreigners having fun discovering the place. So upon getting there, we didn’t waste time to check every spots on my list.
It was in the first week of March when we decided to visit this place. We arrived there around 2:30 in the afternoon, and took pictures and videos right away. The weather is cloudy that time but it is still pleasant to roam around. We first tackled about the style of how we can take good pictures of each, then once settled, we proceed on taking pictures right away. It was really moment for both of us because we keep laughing at each other every time we take photos. Even though we keep copying the poses we saw in the internet, we still fail to get the vibe from that despite of trying hard to do it. That’s why we end up laughing on our pictures together every time we compare it in the photo inspiration. Literally expectation is far from reality!
Now, here are the pictures that we took in Education City, which you can also visit next time you visit Qatar!
EDUCATION CITY MOSQUE
Is one of the iconic places that you can see as soon as you arrive in this place. This place is located in the Minaretain Building which you can find the five large columns representing the five pillars of Islam. Almost the whole place is drawn by verse from the Holy Qur’an, so you can really feel the religiousness of this place. Even though you’re not a Muslim, you can still visit this place and take pictures (not during the praying hours). You also need to wear modest clothes as respect to those who are praying and visiting this place.
For both of us, we just decided to take pictures outdoor. We also took some videos for our reels and Tiktok which you can check below:

OXYGEN PARK
This is the first destination that we checked upon arriving. Since the park is huge which covers 130,000-square-meter, we just went in some good spots that I saw in Instagram. I find this place very nice especially for students who’s studying here. I think that it is very ideal to study here while relaxing under the trees and enjoying the fresh air. Since the park is situated in education city area, it provides means of learnings by setting up different information (post cards) in every plant and many more. The equestrian is also located here so you can have a glimpse of different Arabian horses. Not only that, this park consists of running track, equestrian track, picnic spaces and garden comprising more than 100 plant species with a majority of native and desert-adaptive planting. Isn’t it amazing?

DIFFERENT UNIVERSITIES
Even though you can’t enter the universities in that area if you’re not their student, you can simply take a picture of the great architectural designs of their buildings. Every university has its own unique structures that is really worth of the sightseeing. The outdoor structure of each is truly an Instagram worthy. Here are some schools that we both able to visit that time.

AL SHAQAB
Within the oxygen park, you can easily see Arabian horses on its equestrian track. The main building for these Arabian Horses is Al Shaqab where they cater different events such as Longines competitions, tours, trainings and many more. It is an equestrian center that breeds Arabian horses, trains it, and enhance horse welfare, breeding, equine education, and research.

EDUCATION CITY STADIUM
Completed last June 2020, Education city stadium is the official location for the third match in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Comprising with a total of 40000 seats, the half of it will be donated once the cup ends. Just by looking on its unique architectural design, fans all over the world will be really enthusiastic to personally visit this place. Not only the stadium itself, the facilities and venue surrounding the place is also worth to check on.
Although it was already dark when we check the place, we still didn’t fail to appreciate it. It really completes our tour in Education City!

EDUCATION CITY CEREMONIAL COURT
I discovered Education City when I saw an Instagram post of this location. Its unique architecture is really one of the best spots to take quality travel pictures. Like the name implies, this place is a multi-functional area with an outdoor space that caters different events. This place was designed by a famous Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, who’s really well known in this field.

You will never get hungry from your tour because a lot of restaurants are available here. Since this place is full of universities, rest assured that there’s café and restaurant in this area. This is for the m to accommodate the students staying in their dormitories and at the same time the visitors of this place. If you get tired roaming around this place, you can have a quick drink in the following café’ and shops below:
- Flat White Specialty Coffee
- Global Cafe
- Oakberry Acai Bowls
- Starbucks
- Tea Day Cafe
Other than coffee shops, you can also have your lunch or dinner in any restaurants within this area, you can choose from:
- Green Restaurant
- Chef’s Garden
- Chariot
- Chickito
- Papa John’s Pizza

As per the name itself “Education city” which is a home of different universities and other learning facilities, there’s no mall within its vicinity. If you badly wanted to shop around, you need to take a ride first to arrive in the closest shopping malls from Education city which are QMall and Landmark Mall. If you only prefer to buy few stuffs, there are some shops within this are which are Lulu Express & Al Meera QF. Other than that, there’s also one souvenir shop that you can visit there if you want to buy some items for your friends and family who failed to go with you.

If one day is not enough to tour around the place, you can choose to stay in one of the hotels within that area which is the Premiere Inn Education City. It’s a three-star hotel that offers budget friendly but quality accommodation. Their price ranges around 230-400 rials per night. Compare to the other hotels not within the area, this choice will probably fit for you. Due to its strategic location, it is best to book in advance to make sure that there’s room available for you.

Transportation is not a problem once you visit this place. You have tons of options to go here like taking metro, Karwa taxi, Bus and many more modes of transportation.
If you prefer to use Metro you can just take the station close to your place and just stop at Education City or Qatar National Library station (Green Lane). If any case you’re in the green or red lane, you can drop in Al Bidda or Msheireb Station first then take the green metro lane. All of this will only cost you 2 rials, and for me that’s the most efficient choice! Amazing right?
