Any country that you are in right now, for sure you personally know some Filipino’s who either know how to sing, dance or play instruments. But have you ever wonder why they’re so active and whatever program or events will it be, there will always be a group of Filipino’s performing?
To end your wonder, this blog will let you know everything.
I’ll list down all the possible reason how Filipino’s developed their talents based on my own experience. Just to disclose, this may not entirely the reason and maybe there’s a lot more. So just to base this top 3 reasons, all of it are from my own personal experiences.
To make it real, I’ll attached pictures as well just for an evidence.
1.School Activities
I think this is first reason why Filipino’s develop their talents. I remember from my preparatory school up to my college years, all was equipped by different events that we are required to join.
This is either to represent our classroom itself or a requirement for us to be exempted from our exams.
The left picture is our Jingle Group and the right one is the Dance Group. This activity is taken during our Math Festival wherein each sections (1st year- 4th year) need to compete with each other while incorporating in their piece the theme of that month.
Actually in our School, every month we are celebrating different subjects (Math, Science, Filipino etc.) that includes a program, competitions and interactive activities between students and teachers.
This was taken in our school’s gymnasium during our last culminating activity before our Graduation. From setting up the stage, to the performances all are handled by students. That time, I was the Vice President and it was one of the best experienced I had in my high school.
Not only during the celebrations of each subjects for that month, Philippine Schools also engage their students in a lot of extra curricular activities and one of those are joining different clubs.
In my case I joined ARTISTA CLUB that deals entirely in performing arts. We have our own Dancing, Singing, Acting and Production Committee.
Up until I was college, I still experienced performing. Most of it are part of our requirement in our subjects.
The most memorable part of my college years is this performance where I was chosen as Mulan. It was almost three years when I was back from performing and luckily we were able to grab the “Best Theme” and of course an exception to our final exam!
If you want to check our preliminary performance, you can view it here, While the final performance is here.
2. Social Gatherings
This is kinda funny but this is real. In any family gathering of Filipino’s, a performance is a must. We usually perform to represent each family, no prices and just for fun. It’s either sing, group dance or any simple performance.
A karaoke is also a must. Without it, the gathering will not last for a long time.
Here are some of our pictures taken from our family reunion last 2011. And as you can see everybody are actively participating from adults to toddler!
How I miss this moment!
3. Competitions
Last but not the least. After all of the experiences that shaped every Filipino’s, of course competitions will be surely their familiar place! It has been like that for so long so there’s no such thing as stage fright on them, maybe excitement!
Just to add it up, even company’s in the Philippines are having their own competitions for their staffs, and that’s what I’d experience in my previous company.
This time we won 3rd runner up out of nine properties of Marriott Hotels in Qatar.
Maybe you think on how we find time to manage all of these activities, but well, once you’re into it you won’t feel any pressure nor stress on it. And actually it’s the other way around.
So if ever you see Filipino’s dancing or singing in the streets, you know already few reasons why.
This is not to brag but just to share understanding on how Filipino’s develop their courage to perform. And on my part, I believe that having these experiences brought unforgettable memories for me that I’ll sure share to everyone.
I’m a proud performer and it will stay forever in my heart.
